NORFOLK, Va., April 3, 2019—North Carolina A&T State junior Trevor Stewart was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today, while North Carolina A&T State senior Kayla White was selected as Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. North Carolina A&T State freshman Brandon Hicklin earned Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors, while Bethune-Cookman sophomore Monae Nichols was named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Stewart (Jr., Lorton, Va.) set the nation’s fastest time in the 400 meters this past weekend at the prestigious Florida Relays, winning the race after turning in a 45.18. In running his personal best in that event, Stewart won his second event of the outdoor season (he took the 200 meters last week at High Point).
White (Sr., Miami, Fla.) made her 2019 outdoor debut at the Florida Relays this past weekend, running a personal-best 11.04 to win the 100 meters – beating her previous PR by .20 seconds. That time is currently the fastest not just in the MEAC, but among all Div. I athletes in that event.
Hicklin (Fr., Spartanburg, S.C.) took the long jump at the Florida Relays this past weekend, setting the bar in the MEAC with a distance of 7.65 meters (25 feet, 1.25 inches). That mark is currently the 17th-best in all of Div. I and 11th in the NCAA East Region.
Nichols (So., Lakeland, Fla.) won the long jump and finished second in the triple jump at Embry-Riddle this past weekend. In setting the MEAC benchmark in the long jump, she notched a distance of 6.26 meters (20 feet, 6.25 inches) – ranking 15th in the nation. She also recorded the fourth-best mark in the MEAC in the triple jump so far this season at 12.14 meters (39 feet, 10 inches).

Isaiah Galloway (B-CU) cleared 2.05 meters to win the high jump at Embry-Riddle.
Quamecha Morrison (B-CU) won the 100 meters at Embry-Riddle, while also coming in second in the 200 meters and 100-meter hurdles.
Curtis Thomas (B-CU) won the 100- and 200-meter races at Embry-Riddle this past weekend.
Robert Duncan (DSU) threw the discus a MEAC-best 47.90 meters to win at the Savannah State Twilight.
Mekhi Abbott (HOW) threw the javelin 51.06 meters at the Fred Hardy Invitational, ranking second in the MEAC.
Ayoade Adebiyi (HOW) came in third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Fred Hardy Invitational with a MEAC-best 10:36.08.
Lauryn Galloway (HOW) tossed the javelin a MEAC-best 38.02 meters at the Fred Hardy Invitational.
Oluchi Ike (HOW) won the 400-meter hurdles at the Fred Hardy Invitational, running a MEAC-best 58.50.
Infinnatie Rowe (MSU) ran a 55.92 in the 800 meters at the Raleigh Relays.
Madeleine Akobundu (NCAT) came in second in the long jump in the Florida Relays at 6.16 meters, second in the MEAC.
Patrick Booker (NSU) was fourth in the pole vault at the Fred Hardy Invitational, clearing a MEAC-best 4.10 meters.
Kiara Grant (NSU) ran a personal-best 23.56 in the 200 meters at the Florida Relays, ranking second in the MEAC.
Evans Cheruiyot (NSU) ran a personal-best 8:29.68 in the 3,000 meters at the Fred Hardy Invitational.
